Temporary Chat is ChatGPT's off-the-record mode: open a new chat and click the pill-shaped Temporary button at the top-right. It will not appear in your history, will not use or create memories, and will not be used for training. Your custom instructions still apply if they are enabled.

"Temporary" is not instantly gone — OpenAI may keep a copy for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring. And if a Temporary Chat uses a GPT with actions, data sent to that third party follows their retention, not the 30-day window.
