Turn off Settings > Data Controls > "Improve the model for everyone" to stop your chats being used to train ChatGPT. Your conversations still appear in your history — this only controls training. The setting syncs across web and mobile for your whole account and can be changed anytime with no restrictions.
// gotcha
Turning this off does not disable safety systems, which may still use limited context in rare high-risk situations. Note too that custom-instructions content is used to improve the model unless you opt out here.
