Attach a PDF, Word doc, spreadsheet, or slides with the paperclip and ask ChatGPT to summarize it, pull specific facts, compare it against another file, or answer questions grounded in it. Uploading beats pasting for long files: it avoids context-window truncation and lets ChatGPT analyze spreadsheets and extract structured data. Limits are 512MB per file, about 2M tokens for text and roughly 50MB for spreadsheets.

Free accounts are limited to 3 file uploads per day, and a scanned PDF with no text layer can come back empty since there is nothing to read. For image-only PDFs, tell ChatGPT to OCR or describe the pages.
