Summarize a long document into the points that matter

writing & editing

// what it does

Ask for a specific summary shape — five bullets, a one-line TL;DR, or a section-by-section digest — and delimit the pasted text so the instruction stays separate. Naming the number of points and the angle ("for a decision-maker," "risks only") gives you a summary you can act on instead of a shorter blur.

// prompt

> Summarize the text below in 5 bullet points, then list 3 open questions it leaves unanswered. Text: """[paste text]"""
> Give me a one-sentence TL;DR, then a section-by-section summary of the document below: """[paste text]"""

// gotcha

Very long documents can exceed the context window; text past the limit is silently ignored, so the summary may miss the end. For big files, upload the document instead of pasting, or summarize in labeled sections and combine.
